Family Day Recap At Fort Jackson….

Well I think all is back to normal. If there is such a thing.

I thought I would share some pics of our visit to see my son at Fort Jackson. The first day was called Family Day. They had a ceremony in the morning, then he had an on post pass till 9 pm. As I sat in the stands at Hilton Field, I am anxiously waiting to get that first glimpse of my son. It is so crowded. My son told me that 1200 soldiers were graduating. The bleachers were crowded. I am beside myself waiting. Well all of a sudden all you saw across the field was smoke. Then out of the woods and through the smoke came running each unit. It was absolutely amazing. It just took my breath away. The song that was playing was the Toby Keith song, Red, White and Blue. It was a very emotional moment. I could feel the tears running down my face. I am looking for my son and I am so excited when I spot his face.

Well the moment came when we were able to go get our soldier. It was like a madhouse. Once we got down to the field I couldn’t find him. Well he spotted us and stepped out of formation and came running and the tears were coming form his eyes as well as us and we just stood there embracing. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life. Wow he stood so tall and proud.

I hope you will enjoy these pics. It was a very proud moment for my husband and I.  And of course he looks so very handsome….

Anyway thanks for letting me share this special day. It was such an awesome experience.

I had to post the song below that was playing as the soldiers ran onto the field. Just hearing that song brings tears to my eyes……

Your post is so inspiring. I go to Fort Jackson on December 16-17 for my daughters graduation for basic training. It is indoors so I guess we don’t get smoke, but I’m sure it will be as special. Thanks to your son for his service!

Best wishes for a happy holiday season.

Hi there and thanks for the comment, and congratulations to you as well. Oh so it is inside for you? Well I guess Dec could be cold. Although when we were there it was so windy and cold as well. It actually started raining for abit so they started late for the graduation. But it was awesome with the smoke. Yes it is a very special time and the first time you see your child after that long very emotional and many tears will be shed. You will see the changes and be even more prouder. Keep me updated on how things went. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you and your family as well….
